Users of the privacy oriented Brave Browser now have the possibility to trade cryptocurrencies directly within the software interface thanks to a partnership between the publisher of the Brave Browser and the cryptocurrency exchange Binance. Brave announced the partnership on Tuesday and explained it in detail:

The new Binance widget in the new tab of the Brave desktop browser makes Brave the only browser that offers integrated functionality for buying and trading cryptocurrencies.

The privacy browser Brave has added a Binance widget for crypto currency trading. An early version of this new feature is now available in Brave’s Nightly Desktop version and will be fully released for desktops in April. The Binance widget will allow Brave users to access the Binance.com and Binance.us websites (for US users), buy and sell cryptocurrencies, view asset balances and retrieve deposit addresses without leaving the browser,“ the announcement continued. „The Binance widget will provide users with several options for managing cryptocurrencies, including buying, depositing, trading and viewing summaries. Users will be able to trade cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Ripple, Litecoin and many others supported by Binance.

The history of Brave

Brave was founded by Brendan Eich and Brian Bondy. Eich developed Javascript and co-founded Mozilla, while Bondy worked for Khan Academy and Mozilla. Brave is available on the desktop as well as for iOS and Android devices. The number of Brave users has grown steadily over the years. With only 1 million active users per month in early 2018, the Privacy Browser is now used by more than 12 million active users per month and over 500,000 verified publishers, announced the company on Tuesday. „The Brave Browser combines data protection with a blockchain-based digital advertising platform and offers 3 to 6x faster browsing than other browsers,“ Brave reported. The browser also allows its users to „choose ads that respect their privacy and reward them with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) that they can redeem or tip or pay for contributions to sites and other content creators.

Regarding the newly added cryptographic currency trading functionality, Brave explained in his Tuesday announcement:

The Binance Widget is integrated with Brave and is not a loaded iframe (remotely embedded document), protecting the user’s privacy. API calls are only made in Binance if the user authenticates via OAuth and interacts with the widget.
